2012 GMC Acadia Denali

The Denali designation is reserved for the most luxurious and most heavily stylized versions of GMC's creations - and the Acadia Denali variant of the full-size Acadia crossover is no exception to the tradition.
The Acadia Denali is available with either front- or all-wheel-drive, and features the same direct-injection 3.6-liter V6 engine seen lesser Acadia models.

The engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission to help give FWD models an EPA-estimated 17 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. AWD models return 16/22 mpg. The Acadia is also capable of towing up to 5,200 pounds when properly equipped.
Acadia Denali buyers have the option of seven- and eight-passenger configurations.

Range-topping Caterham sports car coming in 2015

U.K.-based Caterham’s street-legal lineup is essentially made up of Lotus Seven replicas available with a panoply of modern four-cylinder engines.
The small company has confirmed that it is working on an all-new sports car that will not be a variation of the iconic Seven. It is scheduled to bow in 2015 and will be the brand’s flagship, sitting above the Seven as a more expensive offering.
In a lot of ways the next Caterham will be the anti-Seven. It will have a fixed roof, fixed doors and be available with creature comforts such as air conditioning and an infotainment system. Caterham wants it to be the kind of sports car that can be comfortably used as a daily driver.
That doesn’t mean that the company is building a car that will go head-to-head against the ultra-luxurious Mercedes-Benz CL-Class. With a base price of approximately £40,000 (about $65,000), the upcoming model will be similar in spirit to the Lotus Elise.
“We want to make affordable sports cars. We’re going to stay within the areas that we’re good at; we know what we’re not good at and we’re not going anywhere near that. Our cars are going to be raw, they’re going to be drivers’ cars. We have started with the driving position and worked outwards”, said company CEO Ansar Ali in an interview with the U.K.’s CAR Magazine.

2012 Aston Martin Rapide

The Aston Martin Rapide is a four-door ultra-luxury sedan that borrows styling elements and mechanical components from the brand's elegant DB9 coupe. Though many of its rivals serve up more space for the rear passengers, the Rapide does offer enough room for four adults to go along with its exotic looks.
Like Aston's other models, the Rapide is built on the company's VH (Vertical/Horizontal) architecture -- the same that underpins the DB9. The Rapide also shares its twelve-cylinder powerplant from the DBS, DB9 and Vantage models.

Built by hand, the 6.0-liter V12 engine produces 470 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 443 pound-feet of peak torque at 5,000 rpm. A specifically tuned six-speed Touchtronic 2 automatic transmission allows the driver to change gears automatically or manually via the steering column-mounted magnesium paddles.
As one can see, the production version is very similar to the concept car, but does swap out quad-air intakes for upper and lower grilles. The rear of the car has strong family ties to other Aston Martin models, and sports 'smoked' rear taillights.
Continuing its series of firsts and oddities for the brand, the Rapide is the first ever Aston Martin built outside of the United Kingdom, thanks to a partnership up with Magna Steyr. Given a strong interest in the Rapide, Aston Martin says it will build between 1,000 and 2,000 units per year, up from an original estimate of 500 or less.

First Drive: 2013 Audi S5 Coupe [Review]

When introduced five years ago, the Audi S5 and its comparatively meek and milder A5 brother were instantly at the top of the list of sexy two-door coupes and cabriolets.
Have the ensuing five years, along with all the recently arrived competitors, dimmed the luster of this hot rod? We hit the winding canyon roads and wide-open plains outside of the Mile High City to find out if a new powertrain breathes new life into Audi’s relatively attainable design icon.
New heart for the tin man
At the heart of the S5 is a new-for-the-coupe mill, a 3.0-liter supercharged V6. In this application, it produces 333 horsepower at 5,500 rpm, while its 325 lb-ft of torque checks in at a mid-range 2,900 rpm. Best of all, it’s faster, and more economical than the 4.2-liter V8 it replaces.
If you’ve been paying attention, you probably realize that this engine has, confusingly, been standard in the S5 convertible since 2010.

2013 SRT Viper

The fire-breathing Viper sports car is back for a fifth generation, although this time around it ditches the Dodge nameplate and is instead marketed as an SRT model. While it gains a more refined interior and a number of technology and safety features in order to appeal to a larger audience, the latest Viper still possesses the arresting styling, supercar performance and wild character of the original.
Under the hood is the hand-built, all-aluminum 8.4-liter V10 that Viper owners have come to know, love and fear in their SRT-powered snakes. In its latest form it delivers 640 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque, giving it the most torque of any naturally aspirated production car engine in the world. Improvements to make those numbers possible include a new, ultra-high flow and lightweight composite intake manifold, high-strength forged pistons, sodium-filled exhaust valves, new catalysts to reduce back pressure and an aluminum flywheel that reduces reciprocating losses.

Despite all of the upgrades to the engine, SRT engineers actually managed to shed over 25 lbs of weight - just from the engine. In terms of the entire vehicle, roughly 100 lbs have been dropped, partially due to the all-new aluminum and carbon fiber body. Returning to the powertrain, the 8.4-liter V10 is mated to a Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual transmission with an improved short-throw shifter and final gear ratios that have been tightened from 3.07 to 3.55.

2012 McLaren MP4-12C

After a 13-year hiatus from producing road-going cars, McLaren has returned to the streets with a highly advanced supercar aimed at doing battle with the best-of-the-best from historic competitors such as Ferrari and Lamborghini.
McLaren's first production car since 1998 with the end of the legendary F1, the MP4-12C is an entirely new beast aimed specifically at the Ferrari 458 and Lamborghini Gallardo. In fact, comparing the F1 and the MP4-12C side-by-side shows the familiar wedge shape of the legendary F1 on the new MP4-12C, as well as a few subtle design cues not all that different than those found on some of its Italian rivals.
Power comes from a 3.8-liter mid-mounted V8 delivering 592 horsepower and 443 lb-ft. of torque. The twin-turbocharged M838T motor is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission and can spin up to 8500 rpm. Of course, the torquey motor achieves 80 percent of its peak twisting power below 2,000 revs, so flirting with the redline can be saved for special occasions.

Land Rover’s upcoming Defender takes the stage in DC100 concept form

Though only sold in limited quantities over a handful of sporadic years in North America, Land Rover ’s Defender – a direct descendant of the first 1948 Land Rover – continues to thrive in many markets across the world.
Based heavily on the T5 steel platform chassis currently used in the Range Rover Sport and LR4, it is suggested that the Defender replacement will be capable of meeting the ever-stricter emissions and safety laws that have spelled doom for the Defender as U.S. laws outlawed the sale of new Defenders beginning in 1997 due to the lack of airbags.
The chassis will allow the next-generation rig is expected to be offered in a multitude of bodystyles, including hard- and soft-top variants and a utilitarian pickup style. For now, Land Rover has presented us with a pair of concepts which share the name of DC100. Both trucks are design studies for a new generation of the Defender, a hard-core off-roader that has been the backbone of the Land Rover brand for more than 50 years.

2012 Mazda Mazda2

Mazda hasn't been a player in the subcompact market for more than a decade, but that didn't stop enthusiasts from calling on the Japanese automaker to import its world market Mazda2 to North America. That wish has finally come true, and while the North American Mazda2 gets some minor changes from the version sold elsewhere, it retains the playful character and nimble handling that makes it a favorite across the globe.
The North American Mazda2 more or less mirrors the car sold in other markets aside from upgrades to the interior based on consumer focus groups. The Mazda2 is based on the same platform as the Ford Fiesta, but comes only in five-door hatchback form and with different powertrain options.

Mazda says that the Mazda2 is "Zoom-Zoom concentrated," and that it possesses the sporty soul seen in the automaker's other products - but at a lower price point and in a smaller package. The Mazda2 measures just 155.2 inches in overall length.
The Mazda2 is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder that produces 100 horsepower and 98 lb-ft of torque. A five-speed manual comes standard, with a four-speed automatic available as an option. Fuel economy is rated at 29 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway with the stick and 28/34 with the automatic.

2013 Nissan GT-R

The Nissan GT-R just gets better and better every year and 2013 will be no exception. The original version launched back at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show delivered a total of 473 HP; the most recent model - Model Year 2012 - went up to an impressive 530 HP; and things aren’t slowing down for the Japanese automaker. The new version (2012 in Japan, 2013 in USA) has made its official debut at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show, and Nissan has delivered the kind of performance the GTR is known for, but not what we expected.
The bad news from this reveal is that, despite previous rumors, the 2013 GT-R will not deliver 560 HP. Its output has been increased indeed, but "only" to 542 HP - an increase of 12 HP over the current model. The most impressive part however is that the 466 lb-ft of torque will be delivered from 3,200 rpm all the way up to 5,800 rpm.
For 2013, the GT-R will also offer a new "For Track Pack" special edition that adds new high-friction seats, a stiffer suspension, and lighter wheels.
UPDATE 01/20/2012: Nissan has just announced prices for the 2013 Nissan GT-R, which is on sale now at Nissan dealers nationwide. The model will be offered in two versions: the GT-R Premium at a starting price of $96,820 and the GT-R Black Edition priced at $106,320. An optional Special Paint-Super Silver will add another $3,000 to the car’s price.
UPDATE 06/20/2012: Nissan has unveiled a pretty cool video featuring the 2013 GT-R taking some laps on a race track at the Monticello Motor Club, North America’s Premier Automotive Resort and Private Race Track, located just 90 miles from Manhattan.

2013 Nissan Altima Sedan

Nissan has redesigned its popular Altima midsize sedan for the latest model year, adding new high-tech features, a quieter interior and a more stylish look. What really makes the new Altima stand out from its competitors, however, is its fuel economy – Nissan expects the volume-selling four-cylinder model to hit 38 mpg on the highway, a figure previously reserved for compact cars.
The last-generation Altima was consistently one of the best-selling cars in its class, so Nissan chose to evolve the new model with subtle, incremental improvements instead of completely starting from scratch. The wheelbase carries over unchanged, while overall length is up by an inch and width increases by 1.3 inches. The suspension continues to feature struts in front and a multilink setup at the rear, although the latter was revised for more nimble handling.

Despite the dearth of dimensional changes, the Altima is lighter than the outgoing model by about 80 pounds thanks to the increased use of high strength steel, which allowed lighter materials to be used elsewhere.

Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG

Mercedes-Benz pioneered the notion of a premium four-door coupe with the first CLS in 2004. Despite the somewhat counter-intuitive nature of a sedan masquerading as a coupe, the CLS was a success, with customers lining up in droves and competitors from Audi to Hyundai stealing styling cues. The CLS63 AMG is the range-topper of the second-generation CLS, a car that mixes performance, style and luxury in equal measure.
Essentially a re-bodied E63 AMG, the CLS63 AMG puts looks above all else thanks to a lowered roof, puckered tail and curvy dashboard. While the E-Class is practical and formal, the CLS seeks to be evocative and emotional.

Under the hood rests the heart of the CLS63 AMG: a twin-turbocharged and direct fuel-injected monster of a V8. This 5.5-liter unit makes “just” 518 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque in standard form, or 550 ponies and 590 lb-ft with the AMG Performance Package thanks to a boost increase from 14.5 psi to 18.8.
Expect zero-to-60 mph times in the high three second range with the more powerful engine, while owners of the base car will have to twiddle their thumbs for an additional 0.2 seconds to reach the same velocity.

Jaguar XKR-S

Billed as Jaguar’s “most responsive, powerful, agile, and driver-focused production car,” the XKR-S is a serious performance machine. It builds on the “normal” XKR by adding more power, a revised and stiffened suspension and special styling touches inside and out.
The heart of the XKR-S, which is also available in drop-top XKR-S Convertible form. is its supercharged 5.0-liter V8. This twin-cam, direct injected unit makes 550 horsepower and 502 lb-ft of torque, levels that surpass even those of Jaguar’s XJ220 supercar from the early 1990s. Remapping the engine's fueling characteristics and increasing exhaust gas flow through the use of an active exhaust system helped liberate the extra ponies from the engine, which makes 510 horsepower in the XKR.

The motor hooks up to a quick-shifting six-speed automatic transmission that offers up smooth, rev-matched downshifts and helps the car return 15/22 mpg, which is just good enough to avoid the gas-guzzler tax. Jaguar quotes a zero-to-60 mph time of 4.2 seconds, though that figure is likely conservative by at least half a second, while top speed is electronically limited to 186 mph.
Helping to ensure that handling is up to the brutal straight-line quickness is a hardened suspension that features reworked aluminum front suspension knuckles, a revised rear geometry and stiffer springs and dampers. Jaguar also added lightweight forged alloy wheels, recalibrated the steering effort to minimize any response delays and hooked up a torque-vectoring rear differential to produce more agile and connected driving dynamics.

MV-Augusta F4CC

When I first heard about the MV Agusta F4CC, I thought: Yeah, right. What thrill could I get for $120,000 that I couldn't for one-tenth the price? Then MV gave me the bike. Even better, they provided the key.

In my job, it's easy to be a power junkie. I get to sample all kinds of yummy fun sport bikes that tempt me to get into all kinds of trouble with a simple flick of the wrist. Usually, I'm able to get my ya-yas out without going completely overboard, which explains why I'm still standing after two years of riding more than 100 different bikes.

But the F4CC broke my will. Riding the world's most expensive (limited) production sport bike, I felt like Zeus.

I was fast. I felt rich. I felt sexy. Though, riding a bike that costs more than my annual salary, I didn't exactly feel carefree.

It's difficult to ride a 200-horsepower, $120,000 sport bike to its full potential. First, my name's not Valentino or Dani or that of any other top racer. Second, it's easy to be psyched out by the price.

Dodge Tomahawk V10 Superbike

The Tomahawk was a non-street legal concept vehicle introduced by Dodge at the 2003 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan. The Art Deco design was the work of Chrysler staff designer Mark Walters and featured the 500 horsepower (370 kW) 8.3-litre (510 cu in) V10 SRT10 engine from the Dodge Viper. The vehicle has two front wheels and two rear wheels, making it a kind of motorized quadricycle rather than a typical motorcycle. The pairs of wheels move independently, allowing it to countersteer and lean in turns like a motorcycle.
Hand-built examples of the Tomahawk were offered for sale through the Neiman Marcus catalog at a price of US$ 555,000, and up to nine of them might have sold. Dodge emphasized that the bikes were "rolling sculptures" not intended to be ridden.

2013 Toyota Venza

The Venza is a midsize five-passenger vehicle that Toyota refers to as a "crossover sedan," which seems to be a synonym for "short station wagon." For the latest model year, the Venza received a minor refresh that includes updated exterior styling and more standard equipment for all trim levels.
The Venza was designed specifically with the North American market in mind. Sold here exclusively, it was engineered at the Toyota Technical Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The exterior was penned at the Toyota's Calty design studios in Newport Beach.
Rather than styling the Venza to look like an SUV, Toyota says it designed the vehicle with a "sleek sedan concept" in mind. Changes for the latest model include a new front fascia with a revised grille and restyled foglamps in addition to new 19-inch wheels and taillamps.
Styling aside, the Venza features a spacious interior providing room for five passengers and abundant cargo space behind the second row of seats. Levers, one on each side of the rear cargo area, allow the 60/40 split rear seats to fold flat, providing additional storage space for extra long items. For added passenger comfort, the rear seats recline up to 14 degrees.
Power is generated either by an available 3.5-liter V6 that produces 268 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 246 pound-feet of torque at 4,700 rpm with a towing capability of 3,500 pounds, or by the standard (on LE and XLE) 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 182 horsepower and 182 lb-ft of torque.
The V6 returns 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, while the thriftier four pot sips fuel at the rate of 21/27 mpg.
All models can also be had in either front- or all-wheel drive, though the latter will sap fuel economy by 1-2 mpg depending on the model.

2013 BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe

The 6-Series Gran Coupe is a sleek sedan with a coupe-like roofline that slots between the more formally styled 5-Series and 7-Series models in BMW’s lineup. Closely related to two-door 6-Series Coupe, the Gran Coupe offers a pair of potent turbocharged engines, the latest luxury and tech features and a choice of rear- or all-wheel-drive.
Visually, the Gran Coupe is essentially a normal 6-Series Coupe with an extra set of doors – and that’s no bad thing. The major details, such as the flowing hood creases that converge on the BMW badge, the wide kidney grille and the sinking character line aft of each front wheel, all work harmoniously together to create a look that is at once athletic and elegant.

BMW Nazca M12

After styling supercars like the Lotus Esprit and Lancia Delta, Giorgetto Giugiaro created this one for BMW in 1991. At the time he was a busy man, both Jaguar and Bugatti had enlisted him for similar work. Fortunately, the capable team at Italdesign-Giugiaro S.p.A could not only prototype, but test and manufacture as well.
Unlike other design houses of the period, Italdesign was very thorough; enough to ensure that the concept cars were fully functioning prototypes. You could almost consider them good enough to launch as a preproduction model. Fortunately, this is also the case with the M12.
Giugiaro had already styled BMW’s first modern supercar, the 1978 M1, so his newer M12 was a natural evolution. Both cars shared the same BMW ‘kidney’ grill, low profile and mid-engine layout. Unlike the angular-lines from the seventies, Giugiaro gave the M12 a

completely round greenhouse. Unfortunately, this also meant that split doors had to be fitted because the compound curve of the glass was too steep. Thus, the glass section of the door hinged at the T-Bar while the rest regular door swung out normally. Italdesign also fitted the entire greenhouse with mirror-finish tint, making it impossible to see the occupants or interior inside.

2012 BMW M5

Just a few months before the car’s official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, BMW has decided it was time to reveal the official specs on the fifth generation M5 sports sedan. After seeing the first concept version at the 2011 Shanghai Motor Show, now we can see the M5 in all its glory. And we sure like what we are seeing.
The M5 name was used for the first time back in 1984, but since then, the car has evolved into an impressive sedan that combines track potential with the comprehensive practicality of a luxurious business sedan. The new generation brings a high-revving 4.4-liter V8 engine with an M TwinPower Turbo package that delivers an impressive 560 hp at 6,000 – 7,000 rpm and a peak torque of 502 lb-ft from 1,500 rpm. The model will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds and, when the speed limiter is removed, is capable of hitting an impressive top speed of 190 mph. Despite these impressive performance numbers, the car will deliver an estimated fuel economy of 28.5 mpg.
BMW has unveiled a very cool commercial for their new M5. In this video, the world’s fastest sedan recreates super slow-motion bullet footage on a much grander scale. The result: High Performance Art.

Audi R8 GT

Audi has unleashed its range-topping and highest performing R8 model yet in the form of the R8 GT coupe - a true supercar that brings a whole new level of performance to the already respected R8 lineup.
Marking the ultimate in R8 performance, the R8 GT uses Audi's 5.2-liter V10, producing 560 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque. Although the R8 GT focuses on lightness, it retains Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive system. The quattro system delivers power to the wheels with a 15 percent front, 85 percent rear split by default. If needed, power distribution can be swapped to provide for 30 percent in the front and 70 in the rear.
Since AWD was retained, Audi had to find non-traditional ways to drop the weight of the R8 GT to a total of just 3,362 lbs.

How Audi managed to shave over 220 pounds from the R8
To achieve the drop in weight, the German automaker first turned to the glass on the supercar. The windshield now uses thinner glass, with the bulkhead between the passenger cell and engine compartment, as well as the window in the rear hatch being replaced with lightweight polycarbonate. The changes to the glass shaved just shy of 20 lbs from the total weight. The switch to the fixed rear wing saved 2.65 lbs, the thinner sheet metal and additional body cutouts dropped 5.73 more lbs.

Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster

Pagani, the Italian super car that relies on Mercedes Benz' power plant manufacturing has recently released another brand new roadster Zonda R version. The introduction of the Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster to the market is well-received, and similar to its coupe sister, Pagani only produced 5 units and was sold at a 1.3 million Euro price tag ($1.85 million). It is also patterned after the Modenese Atelier.
Performance
This super car, made of carbo-titanium material (carbon fiber weaved with titanium threads), features a hand built super twin engine that are turbocharged AMG v12 machines. This makes up to 678 horsepower of traction. The rocket ship inspired car accelerates to 60 kilometers per hour in only 3.4 seconds. Consequently, it also hits 200 kilometers per hour in less than 10 seconds. Overall, its top speed reaches 217 miles per hour. This coupe version features ceramic-coated exhaust system with a titanium framework. Basically, this is the same aluminum/magnesium that the rims are made of. The car also has maximum side acceleration of 1.45 G already with the road tires.

Aston Martin One-77

The rare Aston Martin One-77 made its first appearance at the lovely Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in North America. This supercar is also constructed to have a stunning exterior design and to deliver a powerful performance just like any other Aston Martin cars. This Aston Martin model is made with a combination of the advanced technology to capture the eyes of the prospective buyers. The production of Aston Martin One-77 is only limited because it is expected that few can afford this expensive car. If you want to have this spectacular car, you must prepare £1,200,000 ($1.85 million).
Performance
You will find a 7.3 liter V12 engine under the hood of an Aston Martin One-77. This huge motor powers the car and gives an output power of 750hp and generate a maximum torque of 533 lb ft. The top speed that this car can reach is 220mph and can accelerate from rest to a speed of 60mph in 3.5 seconds. The transmission used in this supercar is the same to that of the strong transmission of DB9.

Bugatti Veyron Super Sport

Have you ever felt like saying “I feel the need, the need for speed!” The 2011 Bugatti Veyron Super Sport gives you just that.
The fastest production, road legal vehicle in the world made its American debut on August 2010 at the Pebble Beach Concourse. This new offering from Bugatti went into production towards the end of 2010. The first five cars that came off the line has been sold as a limited “World Record Editions.” At a cost of over 2.4 million dollars (2.08 million Euros at time of purchased) each, the first five immediately sold out. This World Record Edition is a replica of the car that clocked 267.9 miles per hour at Volkswagens Ehra-Lessien test tracks in Germany.
The conditions were perfect when the new Bugatti Veyron Super Sport broke the record. SSC Ultimate Aero previously set the 256 mph record in 2007, in order to better the earlier Bugatti Veyron, but then, Bugatti came back with a vengeance by beating the record by at least 11mph.
Bugatti Automobiles SAS and the Volkswagen Group led the design and development of the Veyron. Hartmut Warkuss is the chief designer, while Jozef Kabaň of Volkswagen is responsible for its exterior design. In naming this outstanding vehicle, they have combined two giants in the car industry, Pierre Veyron and Ettore Bugatti.
Italian Ettore Bugatti founded his automobile company in 1909. Bugatti’s vehicles were much in demand for its engineering and stylish lines and finish. Story has it that only a select number of people had the privilege of owning a Bugatti, you were royalty or high up in the social class to own one. One other distinction Bugatti has is that it won the first ever Monaco Grand Prix.
Pierre Veyron, a Frenchman, was a racing driver that won the 1939 Le Mans 24 Hour race driving a Bugatti made vehicle.
